Bouchon Reserva Cabernet

Bouchon Family Vineyards’ history began with an adventurous young French man’s dream almost a century and a half ago. Emile Bouchon left his little home of small winegrowers in Arveyres, near Burdeos, France, to board on a ship, towards Chile in the spring of 1887.  Emile came hired as a winemaker adviser and throughout many years of efforts, he was able to purchase an antique wine cellar in Colchagua Valley, turning it into one of the most prominent vineyards of that time.  His children and eventually his grandson would continue his legacy.  His grandson Julio studied enology in Bordeaux and expanded the Bouchon project. He fell in love with the granitic soils in the interior dry area in Maule Valley, acquiring Mingre state in 1977, a distant property, which had old dry farmed vineyards.

Today the winery is operated by the fourth generation of the Bouchon family and a team of expert viticulturalists and winemakers working on continued innovation in the vineyards and winery.  They are in the process of acquiring organic certification for their vineyards and wines, though some of their vineyards are currently certified organic.

Nova Ona Rose

Marc Benassis and his father, Michel, are the wine producers with Marc being the fifth generation that has run the estate of 50 ha since 1936.  At the heart of the village of Canet en Roussillon, the winery is housed in a wonderful building dating back to 1863 which is one of the oldest in the village; this building was bought in 1968 by Louis Benassis at the Hospital of Perpignan from where it takes its name “Cave des Hospices.”  The Benassis family takes a very sustainable agricultural approach to winegrowing in order to minimise the need for chemical treatments. During the summer the soil is ploughed superficially and from autumn to spring they allow the natural grasses to grow. Since 2017 they have been using pheromones to fight biologically against parasites and avoid resorting to chemical treatments.

Domaine de Reuilly Les Pierres Plates

Reuilly is an appellation in the eastern Loire Valley. In 1935 Denis Jamain’s grandfather planted the first vines in the region along with farming the large oak forest on the edge of town. The domaine began with two hectares of vines and has grown to 17 hectares.  Denis continues in the family tradition of grape growing and farms seventeen hectares in the heart of the appellation, with eleven planted to Sauvignon Blanc, four planted to Pinot Noir, and two planted to Pinot Gris, which makes his superb and distinctive Reuilly rosé. The entire domaine received organic status in 2011 is now certified biodynamic.  The Domaine benefits from an exceptional land, mainly composed of clay and limestone of the Kimmeridgian era for the growing of its three grape varietals and also benefits from very favorable climate conditions for the good ripening of the grapes.

Marchand Tawse Cote de Nuits Villages

French-Canadian Pascal Marchand moved to France in 1985 when he was 22 years old, beginning his winemaking journey at Clos des Epeneaux in Pommard and becoming part of a new generation of Burgundy producers who believed that good wine starts in the vineyard. After several stints all around the world and an impressive resume of consulting, Pascal became one of the best known “flying winemakers.”

Moray Tawse is a financier by trade, serving as the vice president and co-founder of First National. After realizing the potential of winemaking in Niagara, Ontario, Moray purchased his first six acres of vineyard in 2000. Five years later, he opened Tawse winery and has since acquired 200 acres of vineyards all over the Niagara region- being named Canadian Winery of the year in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2016.

Marchand-Tawse is a c0-venture between Pascal and Moray; this duo of vignerons/micro-négociants are working with their partner-growers in the many appellations of Burgundy while embracing organic and biodynamic farming practices, crafting wines of purity and class.

Presqu'ile Pinot Noir Santa Maria

Presqu’ile (‘press-keel’) is a family-owned winery in the Santa Maria Valley dedicated to crafting exceptional, cool-climate Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Syrah from Santa Barbara County.  Santa Maria Valley is an American Viticultural Area which straddles the boundary of Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties in California’s multi-county Central Coast AVA.

The Presqu’ile Vineyard is located just 16 miles from the Pacific Ocean, and is dedicated to 73 acres of vines.  The vineyard is planted to three different types of rootstock, as well as own-rooted vines. Soaring elevations of 700 to 1,000 feet bring a diverse array of exposures to the vineyard, which adds to the uniqueness of the different blocks. The vineyard is dominated by deep sandy soils, which retain heat and provide a well-draining environment for the vines to thrive.
