Torno El Ternero Crianza
The origins of Hacienda El Ternero date back to 1077, a time when it belonged to the Santa María de Herrera Monastery. In the heart of the hacienda, buildings from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries now house the winery, whilst in the past they were used as the monastery, barracks, school and a hospice for pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago. In the centre, the Hacienda El Ternero hermitage watches over the Virgin of the Pear, the patron saint of the estate. This unique enclave at the foot of the Obarenes Mountains covers 250 hectares in the heart of the Rioja Alta. With almost one thousand years of history, time seems to have stopped at Hacienda El Ternero.

Hacienda El Ternero Rioja Seleccion La Pera Rioja Blanco

This unique enclave at the foot of the Obarenes Mountains covers 250 hectares in the heart of the Rioja Alta. With almost one thousand years of history, time seems to have stopped at Hacienda El Ternero.
The vineyards, located at an average altitude of 650 metres and protected by the Obarenes Mountains, enjoy a privileged microclimate which is ideal for the cultivation of grapes, with cold, dry winters and warm summers. Hacienda El Ternero has a unique vineyard in one of the highest areas of Rioja, giving the vines a privileged location which is later captured in the essence of these wines. The shallow soil originates from a calcareous clay mixed with rounded stones, providing it with richness and aeration. All of this, combined with the orientation and different altitudes of the vines (some which are over 50 years old), favours the production of grapes with exceptional natural properties, ideal for the production of great aged wines with a unique character that stems from the terroir.

Clos du Val Cabernet Sauvignon
Clos Du Val, French for “small vineyard estate of a small valley,” was founded in 1972 in the now legendary Stags Leap District by John Goelet and French winemaker Bernard Portet. After a worldwide search to purchase vineyard properties from which to craft world-class wines, 150 acres in the now legendary Stags Leap District and 180 acres in the cool Carneros District were chosen, from which Clos Du Val Winery, a true Napa Valley icon, was born. The wine was first recognized for is Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon at the famed Judgement of Paris in 1976. Today, for Clos Du Val winemakers John Clews and Kristy Melton, it’s the fruit from these distinctive vineyards that serves as the foundation for crafting the balanced, terroir-driven wines of elegance for which Clos Du Val is known.

Duckhorn Cabernet Sauvignon
Co-founded by Dan and Margaret Duckhorn in 1976, Duckhorn Vineyards has spent forty years establishing itself as one of North America’s premier producers of Napa Valley wines. From its modest inaugural vintage of 800 cases of Cabernet Sauvignon and 800 cases of Merlot in 1978, to its addition of Sauvignon Blanc in 1982, Duckhorn Vineyards has crafted a tradition of quality and excellence that continues today. The winery’s seven estate vineyards are located in alluvial fans of Napa Valley and the much sought after Howell Mountain slopes.
Since 2014 the wines are made under the guidance of accomplished head winemaker Renée Ary who started at Duckhorn as an assistant winemaker in 2003 and has been producing knock out wines since that time. Winemaker Renee Ary works with each vineyard block separately and harvests when flavours are optimal and tannins are their softest. She approaches winemaking in an artisanal manner, by tasting and blending from close to 200 lots, separately barrel ageing each lot in oak from various cooperages. The result are wines of great finesse, personality and depth.

Pine Ridge Napa Cabernet Sauvignon
Established in 1978, Pine Ridge Vineyards produces classically proportioned, expressive wines that embody their history and distinct place of origin. Pine Ridge founder Gary Andrus, inspired by the illustrious wines of Bordeaux, believed in the Napa Valley’s potential to produce wines of similar stature. He planted the property’s original namesake vineyard on a steeply terraced hillside flanked by a dramatic ridgeline of pine trees in the Stags Leap District.
Gary’s pioneering efforts with this first vineyard were met with tremendous success as the Bordeaux varietals he planted thrived and produced wines of great distinction. In the following years, Pine Ridge continued to acquire exceptional vineyard sites across the region. Today, the Estate’s 200 acres span over five renowned Napa Valley appellations- Stags Leap District, Rutherford, Oakville, Carneros and Howell Mountain.
