More than a century ago, Gaspare and Caterina Indelicato immigrated from Sicily to the United States. With little to draw on but a long family history of grape growing and an entrepreneur’s gift for seizing opportunity, Gaspare entered the wine trade by planting a single vineyard in 1924 in Manteca, California, where the climate reminded the couple of their homeland.
Occupying a privileged position at the southern foot of the trail, the winery grounds eventually became the site of the Silverado Western Center, a major equestrian center that opened in September 1963. The original riding area now houses prized wines, instead of prize-winning horses. However Black Stallion Estate Winery carries its heritage forward. The estate’s legacy honors the world-class terroir of Napa Valley, the pioneering spirit of the Silverado Trail, and the Indelicato family’s warm hospitality and generations of wine expertise. Since that first vineyard flourished, Gaspare’s children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren have honored his legacy through dedication to his steadfast values of family, hard work and integrity. Black Stallion Estate Winery is located in the Oak Knoll district of Napa Valley. The winery focuses on small lot blends of Napa Valley fruit.
In 1987, Aurelio Montes and Douglas Murray, both highly experienced wine professionals, wanted to realize their dream of producing Chilean wines a quantum-leap higher in quality than the standards of the time and were the first winery to officially make a premium wine with their 1987 Montes Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon. In 1988, they joined up with the other two founders, Alfredo Vidaurre and Pedro Grand, who brought their own complementary skills and expertise to the venture. Montes is a pioneer in the Chilean wine industry and today produces a range of wines in various category levels, from entry level easy drinking wines to premium and ultra premium wines.
The Crusher wines are the product of a partnership between two established Californian winemaking families, Sebastiani and Wilson. The grapes are sourced from Clarksburg, an appellation only 20 miles East of Napa Valley, near Sacramento where similar diurnal temperature fluctuations – cool nights and hot days, produce balanced and concentrated wines. Unlike Napa, land is still relatively affordable here, so the wines offer excellent quality and value. The Crusher wines undergo wild yeast fermentation, from yeasts naturally present in environment; these indigenous yeasts produce subtly nuanced wines and express the local terroir.
La Bella Prosecco is a brand of La Delizia. La Delizia was established in 1931 as a Cantina Sociale Cooperativa. Today, Viticoltori Friulani La Delizia is the largest wine-making facility of the Region Friuli Venezia Giulia. The production area includes a wide surface on the plain of the Friuli region, a land well-known for its profound winemaking expertise, the nature of the soil and the particularly mild climate have contributed to create the best conditions for grape growing.
Prosecco can be produced in Friuli in addition to Veneto. In fact the town by the name of Prosecco is located in Friuli. Prosecco is an an interregional appellation shared with the more famous Prosecco producing region of Veneto. These areas are rich in history and have a strong wine-growing tradition; Prosecco consumption and production has increased over the years and brands like La Bella produce classic and affordable versions of this beloved Italian sparkling wine.
La Delizia was established in 1931 as a Cantina Sociale Cooperativa. Today, Viticoltori Friulani La Delizia is the largest wine-making facility of the Region Friuli Venezia Giulia. They have 450 members, 2000 hectares of vines and produce on average 23 million bottles of wine per year. The production area includes a wide surface on the plain of the Friuli Region. In this land, well-known for its profound winemaking expertise, the nature of the soil and the particularly mild climate have contributed to create the best conditions for the vine growth.
