The Tatamagouche Brewing Company (commonly referred to as “Tata”) is a family owned and operated craft brewery located in the heart of Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia. In 2014, the family converted an old butcher shop into a brewery, and have since added several additions to the sides and back of the building to help accommodate their growth. In 2023 the brewery launched Nomad, a line of alcohol-free beer. Tata Brew have won awards provincially as well as nationally while they continue to grow their team and brand.
Tasting Notes
Very hoppy for a pilsner, but not in the way you think of hoppy in the pale ale sense. This beer has loads of spicy, herbal, and floral aromas that mingle with biscuit and fresh bread dough aromas from the pilsner malt. The mouthfeel is soft and fluffy, with moderate carbonation, and a firm bitterness that cleans up the finish.
Method
Italian Pilsner, when talking in the context of craft beer, refers to a sub-style of Pilsner that was developed in the mid-90’s by Birrificio Italiano. The style takes a German style Pilsner, already known for its light body and drier more hop-forward character, and dials up the dry-hopping of noble hops even more. The resulting beer is very aromatic and has an almost fluffy texture.
Pausa Pranzo Italian Pilsner is lovingly named after the enviable Italian Lunch Break. Meant to be enjoyed without rushing, Pausa Pranzo is lightly dry hopped with Calista hops, emphasizing Noble hop character and a pronounced bitterness.
