Craggy Range Sauvignon Blanc

Founded by Terry and Mary Peabody in 1998, their journey into winemaking originally started in 1993 when they began looking for land to create a wine estate that could be passed down to future generations. Although they began looking in France and the United States, they eventually settled on New Zealand given its temperate maritime climate and (at the time) unrealized potential. Keeping to the North Island, the Peabodys setup vineyards on the Gimblett Gravels Wine Growing district, on Ngaruroro River, Hawkes Bay- ideal to produce high quality reds including Syrah, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon, and in Te Muna Road in Martinborough, perfect for Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc.

A proud member of Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand (SWNZ), the winery has also begun the largest biodiversity project in the New Zealand wine industry; planting 150,000 native trees, plants, and around their Te Muna Road vineyards in Martinborough. With this project, they’re also focusing more on farming organically as well as investing in water storage to capture water during the winter months, when rivers flow at their peak. Craggy Range has started to incorporate organic practices in both the vineyard and the winery.

Lavantureux Chablis

Originally, the wine produced by the Lavantureux family was mainly drunk by family and friends.  Marine and Gervais, Roland’s paternal grandparents, began to sell the wines from the domaine in “feuilettes” (132 liter barrels, typical of Chablis) in Auxerre and Paris.  Roland was the first to bottle the wines in 1979 and it was then that he gave his name to the domaine.  He expanded the domaine from 5 hectares to 20 hectares and continued to develop the business in France and abroad.  The domaine is about 20 hectares of Chardonnay vines in Lignorelles, about four miles northwest of Chablis.  Since 2010 his sons Arnaud and David  work alongside him. Arnaud works in the vineyards and cellar, while David takes the lead in marketing and sales.  The domaine is known for making no no nonsense reliable and delicious Chablis.

Famille Paquet - Pouilly Fuisse

Domaine Famille Paquet is located at the foot of the cliffs of Solutré and of Vergisson, in the commune of Davayé in the Macon region in southern Burgundy.  The domaine was created in 1980 by Jocelyn and Muchel Paquet and at that time called Domaine des Valanges.  In 2015, their children, Camille, Mathieu and Jean-Baptiste, took over their parents’ estate.  Today Camille manages both the viticulture and winemaking while Mathieu and Jean- Baptiste are responsible for wine sales. They perpetuate the know-how of  their parents with the same passion, sharing the same vision:  offering great white Burgundy reflecting the terroir at  affordable prices.  Their vineyards enjoy optimal sun exposure of south / south-east slopes on clay limestone terroirs. This terroir is wonderful  for Chardonnay, producing very expressive, mineral, floral wines with a great fruit intensity.  Today, the family estate of almost 27 hectares of organically farmed grapes produces more than 218,000 bottles per year, in the Pouilly-Fuissé, Saint-Véran and Mâcon-Villages appellations.

Philipponnat CLOS DES GOISSES 2011

The Philipponnat family have been wine growers and merchants since the 16th century. Their 17th hectares of vineyards in the heart of Champagne, situated in Ay, Mareuil-Sur-Ay and Avenay in the Vallée de la Marne  are classified Premier Cru and Grand Cru on chalky soils and bright southern exposure. Philliponat aims to preserve the precious terroir by using natural and traditional methods to work the soil like hoeing by hand and ploughing with horses. Even in their non vintage wines, the house highlights the predominant vintage of the blend as well as disgorgement date and dosage on their back labels.

“Our approach to viticulture is ultra-integrated. Climate change is forcing us to adapt and to change our working methods, but the House has in any case been committed to this principle for many years. For example, we have used only organic fertiliser for a very long time, and we no longer use any insecticides or herbicides. We apply a holistic rationale to our environment that goes beyond the specifications for organic agriculture, which stop with the products of the vine. We take into account not only the vineyard and the environment but also the men and women who work on the estate.” – Aurélia Jamain, Vineyard and Supply Manager

Ployez Jacquemart Blanc de Noir

Laurence Ployez is a third-generation winemaker at her family’s estate, which was established in 1930. Working with predominantly Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, grapes are sourced from Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards in the villages of Ludes and Mailly Champagne, Villedommange, and Vertus; Laurence’s plots total 2.15 ha. In addition to her own vineyards, she also works with growers who have been providing the estate grapes for more than 20 years; these growers make up another 12 ha of Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards.

Laurence is very concerned with showcasing each vintage and subsequent growing season in her wines and even with her NV bottlings, very little reserve wine is actually used; all grapes are handpicked and sorted by varietal, cru, and specific vineyard- they’re also all pressed individually as well. Only first press juice is used and light filtration is used on wines destined for stainless steel; wines aged in oak see no fining or filtration. With minimal dosage (3-4 g/L) on all her wines, Laurence’s “goal is to leave structure of each wine intact, allowing the true character and personality of the harvest to shine through.”

Rombeau Rivesaltes Ambré

One of the most storied estates in Roussillon, Domaine de Rombeau traces its origins to 1727, when the de la Fabrègue family first arrived in Rivesaltes from Lyon. By 1850, the family had amassed vineyard holdings and became of one the region’s first to bottle wine. Tanks that date from that period can still be found on the estate. The family persevered through phyolloxera and successive World Wars, continually delving deeper into the region’s traditions while remaining open to the possibilities of the future. As sixth-generation family winemaker Philippe Raspaud said: “Tradition is alive.” Chateau Rombeau grows many varieties of grapes and produces a range of high quality and excellent value wine in the Languedoc Roussillon.  They have converted many of the vineyards to organic viticulture and are committed to soon being an 100% organic producer.

Leitz Zero Point Five Pinot Noir

The Leitz family has a history in winemaking as far back as 1744. In 1985 Johannes Leitz took over the family winery in Rudesheim and has grown the estate from 2.9 hectares to 40 hectares and has gained national and international recognition for his wines all while staying true to his root. He worked closely with the Ministry of Environment to restore traditional terraces above Rudesheim in the Berg Rottland and Berg Kaisersteinfels vineyards. The impressively steep Leitz vineyards are blessed with 100% southern exposure, thus ensuring optimal ripening and good drainage which is needed for these complex and mineral driven wines.

This is a non-alcoholic wine that shines all year round as an alcohol-free companion for any occasion.

Glencadam 15 Year Old Single Malt

Glencadam first opened its doors for distilling in 1825, a short period of time after the Excise Act ended. After many years of production, the distillery went through a tumultuous period passing through numerous different owners. During the World Wars Glencadam was mothballed and used as a barracks for soldiers, in 1950 it was bought by Hirim Walker who then closed the distillery in 2000. Glencadam was bought by Angus Dundee Distillers and began production again in 2003. Although famously used for blending, this distillery is now making a name for itself with its single malts. They have a core range that includes a 10, 15 and 21 year old as well as many different cask finished expressions.

Kilkerran 12 YO Single Malt

Glengyle distillery was founded by William Mitchell in 1872, and stayed in the family until 1919. After changing hands a couple times and being mothballed (a term referring to a distillery being closed while still preserving equipment and machinery for possible future use), the distillery was sold to J&A Mitchell in 2000. Four years later, Glengyle reopened and the first bottling of Kilkerran was released in 2009; a 5 year old expression titled “Work-in-Progress.”

The name Kilkerran comes from the gaelic word Cille Chiarain, which was the original name for Campbeltown- the scenic setting where Kilkerran proudly makes their distillate. In 2016, the annual release of Kilkerran’s 12 year old began which features a 12 year old whisky matured in 70% ex-Bourbon casks and 30% ex-Sherry casks. To round out their core range, they also produce an 8 year old cask strength and more recently, a 16 year old expression.

Longrow Peated

Named after another lost distillery of Campbeltown (which once operated right next door to Springbank and whose warehouse now houses our bottling hall), Longrow was first produced in 1973 to provide a peaty, oily and robust component to a blend being created at the time. More heavily peated and double distilled, it has been a staple in the production calendar since the 1990s.

10% of Springbank’s production is dedicated to the Longrow brand, with another 10% focused on their Hazelburn bottlings- the other 80% is for the rest of the Springbank range.
