Torno El Ternero Crianza

Hacienda el Ternerois the only winery in Castilla y León that has D.O.Ca. Rioja. Located in the heart of Rioja Alta, it is a small area with 250 hectares that belongs to the province of Burgos.  Its creation dates from 1077, when it belonged to the Monastery of Herrera. In that age, the homestead was the farm of the monastery, where the monks used to cultivate vines and cereal, and they also used to breed calves to use their skin in the scriptorum of the monastery.  Nowadays, the farm has 60 hectares of vineyards located at 650 metres of altitude. The vines are planted on soils that contain a mixture of stones, limestone and sandstone, chalk and clay.  This unique site results in fresh Atlantic wines that reflect the forest landscape that surrounds the vineyards.

Hacienda El Ternero Rioja Seleccion La Pera Rioja Blanco

The origins of the estate date back to 1077 A.D., a time when it belonged to the Santa María de Herrera Monastery. The cluster of buildings, nestling in the shade of the Obarenes Mountains, were formerly used as a monastery, barracks, a school, a hospice for pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago and a hermitage which currently remains open, sheltering the winery’s patron saint, the Virgin of the Pear.

Hacienda El Ternero has a unique vineyard in one of the highest areas of Rioja, giving the vines a privileged location which is later captured in the essence of these wines.

Hacienda El Ternero Rioja Seleccion

The origins of the estate date back to 1077 A.D., a time when it belonged to the Santa María de Herrera Monastery. The cluster of buildings, nestling in the shade of the Obarenes Mountains, were formerly used as a monastery, barracks, a school, a hospice for pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago and a hermitage which currently remains open, sheltering our patron saint, the Virgin of the Pear.   Hacienda El Ternero has a unique vineyard in one of the highest areas of Rioja, giving the vines a privileged location which is later captured in our wines.   Tempranillo, Viura, Garnacha and Mazuelo grape varieties are  planted here, among others.  The vineyards, located at an average altitude of 650 metres and protected by the Obarenes Mountains, enjoy a privileged microclimate which is ideal for the cultivation of grapes, with cold, dry winters and warm summers.  The shallow soil originates from a calcareous clay mixed with rounded stones, providing it with richness and aeration. All of this, combined with the orientation and different altitudes of the vines (some which are over 50 years old), favours the production of grapes with exceptional natural properties, ideal for the production of great aged wines with a unique character that stems from the terroir.

Bodegas San Gregorio Las Martas Garnacha

San Gregorio was established in 1965 as part of the D.O. Calatayud. They make wine from 750 hectares of vineyard, selecting the best grapes from the Ribota Valley.

The region combines various unique climatic and geographical features which include an altitude between 664 and 830 metres above sea level, minimum rainfall and a tremendous difference between day time and night time temperatures during the ripening period. The vineyards are situated on a mixture of red clay and limestone soils with a high stone content that permits the natural drainage of water. All of these factors reinforce the presence of a unique microclimate that favours an environment with every little disease pressure combined with low grape yields.

The vines planted “en vaso” (head-trained) are not irrigated, offering very low production levels. Local soils are rich in limestone, marl and slate.

Clos du Val Cabernet Sauvignon

Clos Du Val, French for “small vineyard estate of a small valley,” was founded in 1972 in the now legendary Stags Leap District by John Goelet and French winemaker Bernard Portet.   After a worldwide search to purchase vineyard properties from which to craft world-class wines, 150 acres in the now legendary Stags Leap District and 180 acres in the cool Carneros District were chosen, from which Clos Du Val Winery, a true Napa Valley icon, was born.  The wine was first recognized for is Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon at the famed Judgement of Paris in 1976.   Today, for Clos Du Val winemakers John Clews and Kristy Melton, it’s the fruit from these distinctive vineyards that serves as the foundation for crafting the balanced, terroir-driven wines of elegance for which Clos Du Val is known.

Pine Ridge Napa Cabernet Sauvignon

Established in 1978, Pine Ridge Vineyards produces classically proportioned, expressive wines that embody their history and distinct place of origin.

Pine Ridge founder Gary Andrus, inspired by the illustrious wines of Bordeaux, believed in the Napa Valley’s potential to produce wines of similar stature. He planted the property’s original namesake vineyard on a steeply terraced hillside flanked by a dramatic ridgeline of pine trees in the Stag’s Leap District. Gary’s pioneering efforts with this first vineyard were met with tremendous success as the Bordeaux varietals he planted thrived and produced wines of great distinction. In the following years, Pine Ridge continued to acquire exceptional vineyard sites across the region.

Today, the Estate’s 200-acres span over five renowned Napa Valley appellations – Stags Leap District, Rutherford, Oakville, Carneros and Howell Mountain.

Kilchoman Machir Bay

Anthony Wills founded the Kilchoman Distillery after decades learning the importance of blending, wood management, and cask selection as an independent bottler. Anthony dreamed of opening a distillery that paid homage to the rich history of Scottish farm distilling and offered a counterpoint to the industrial distilleries pumping out 10 million liters a year. In 2005, that dream was realized when the Kilchoman distillery finished its inaugural batch making it the first new distillery on Islay in over 120 years.

The picturesque Kilchoman Distillery sits nestled amongst the traditional buildings of Rockside Farm on the north-west coast of Islay. Famous as Islay’s Farm Distillery, their barley fields stretch west to the shores of Machir Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Through their “barley to bottle” philosophy, this family-run project has built itself quite a following over the past 15 years.
