Tasting Notes
This beer has malt forward aromas of of water cracker, and bread dough that play along side spicy and floral notes from noble German hops. Mouthfeel is light with moderate carbonation that finishes smooth and crisp.
Method
Asahi is an International Pale Lager that’s made with the addition of corn and rice, two adjuncts that contribute fermentable sugars without adding extra flavour. This process also lightens the body of the beer, contributing to the very crisp and refreshing profile. Adjunct lagers are the worlds most popular style of beer, they are light and refreshing with accessible flavours known the world over.
Our Thoughts
Karakuchi – as fun to say as this beer is easy to drink; a Japanese culinary term meaning spicy, salty or dry, often used in the context of sake, is this Lager’s tagline and it fits pretty nicely! In addition to the spicy and floral notes, this beer has a slight salinity but not enough to overpower the crisp and clean finish. Why not grab a can and head out for a Karachuchi-beach-day-barbeque?!
