Marques de Tosos Gran Reserva

Located in the heart of one of the most historic denominations of origin in Spain, the Cooperativa Vinícola San Valero is the result of the fusion of ancestral knowledge with the new contributions of research, development and innovation in the wine sector.  The cooperative was founded in 1944 by a group of 66 farmers in the area and has since grown to bring together more than 500 vine and wine professionals.  The cooperative is highly regarded in Spain and internationally for its production of high quality and excellent value wines, including its large organic range.

Marqués de Tosos was established in 1984 as the line of vintage wines produced at Bodega San Valero.  Originating in the vineyards of Monte Alcañiz, a region also known as Dehesa de la Marquesa, these wines are characterised by their highly expressive quality due to the contrasts in temperature found in this terroir.

Lindemans - Cuvée René Oude Gueuze

Southwest of Brussels, in the quiet Belgian town of Vlezenbeek, the Lindemans family has been farming and homebrewing as long as anyone can remember. Commercial brewing started in 1822.

Lambic, or spontaneously fermented beers, are the beers of this region and are among the world’s rarest: they are the only beers fermented via wild, airborne yeast – no yeast is added by the brewers. Lambics come only from the Senne River valley, near Brussels – a region about 15 by 75 miles in size. The unusual, demanding, and unique flavors that come from multiple yeast strains are unmatched in the world of beer.

Feudo di Santa Tresa Frappato

Brother and sister Stefano and Marina Girelli, wine entrepreneurs from Trentino, discovered the winemaking region of Sicily and purchased Santa Tresa in 2001.

Santa Tresa (Sicilian dialect for Santa Teresa) is nestled in Vittoria, in the south east of Sicily; their estate encompasses 50 ha of land, 39 ha dedicated to vineyards. When the winery and properties were acquired in 2001, indigenous clones of Frappato, Nero d’Avola, and Grillo were discovered, planted across the existing vineyards. Aside from the abundance of indigenous varieties they already cultivate, an organic, experimental vineyard is used to rediscover other indigenous grapes, with their traditional vines. Within this experimental plot, Albanello and Orisi are grown- ancient varietals that date back to nearly the beginning of winemaking in the region. More recently, the winery has decide to source all their water from a local reservoir, using only natural rainwater for any irrigation. On top of that, green beans are grown and used to make natural fertilizer.

Tornatore Etna Rosso

A rising star in the Etna region, Tornatore is becoming one of the region’s biggest and most respected wineries. Their vineyards are located at an altitude of 1,000 meters above sea level on the north side of this active volcano.

Out of a Sicilian family heritage that traces back to the 17th century, the Tornatore’s Mount Etna wine ventures began in 1865. Today the family’s operations are headed by Giuseppe Tornatore, a businessman whose expertise led to the acquisition of some of the region’s finest north-facing vineyards in the early 2000’s. That heritage and the Tornatore’s profound respect and understanding of the land is showcased in wines that capture the essence of Etna, deftly balancing concentrated flavors, complexity, freshness and refinement.

The company lies in the northern side of Mount Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe. The soils have volcanic origin and were created through the disintegration of lava, ash and stones from previous volcanic eruptions. The climate on the northern side of the Etna is characterized by mild temperatures, and more rain fall reflecting the influence of the Volcano. The combination of soil, climate and the skill of the winemakers, have made the northern slope of Etna an ideal area for the production of high-quality wines. “Our vineyards and our winery are only a few kilometers from our family home. Our entire family is rooted there. We have the greatest respect for this region, and we believe we have a responsibility to be stewards of Etna and to reflect its distinct character in our wines.” – Giuseppe Tornatore

Gomariz X

Nestled at the eastern edge of Galicia, the Ribeiro DO is split by three rivers. Coto de Gomariz is located in the zone of Ribeiro where the slopes overlook the Avia river and consists of 27 hectares. Shisteous, granitic and sandy soils, steep slopes, tiny yields and a unique microclimate make this spot ideal for growing the local varieties which include Treixadura, Godello, Loureira and Albariño. Owner Ricardo Carreiro and winemaker Xosé Lois Sebio have introduced biodynamic principles, and are producing high quality and characterful wines.

Founded in 1886, the Erdinger Brewery – dedicated to the brewing of wheat beer and wheat beer only – resides in the quaint Bavarian town of Erding, 30 minutes northeast of Munich. Chum Churum Mango Soju

Soju is a very popular spirit sold in Korea that is traditionally made by distilling rice and other cereal grains. However, since the 1960s to alleviate rice shortages, most soju has been produced by diluting high strength neutral alcohol from distilled sweet potatoes or tapioca.

One of the most trendy brands in South Korea, Chum Churum (which translates as “like the first tme”) is popular because of the added alkaline water, higher sweetness, and relatively lower alcohol content. This smoother and softer profile has been extremely successful and is especially popular among younger drinkers in South Korea.
