Piedmont
The Piedmont area, known as Piemonte in Italian, is nestled in the northwestern corner of Italy and the name reflects both its French neighbours and origins, meaning the “foot of the mountains”.
Given that the region is surrounded by the breathtaking French and Italian Alps while wineries in the area produce more quality designated wines than any other Italian region, it difficult to believe that Piedmont is still a relatively hidden gem when it comes to general tourism. The star grapes of this region are Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto, and Moscato.
