In 1996, Australia set out to change the international wine market. The country wanted recognition for their branded wines and their signature style of soft, rich, consumer friendly wines dominated. With easy-to-read labels that presented the grape varietal and, in many cases, a ‘cute critter’ – their wines were fanatically received by wine consumers around the world.
Times change though and Australia has recently begun to change its focus to regionality as they develop wines that are more stylistic to the specific wine growing areas. Look for finely crafted wines from cooler climates as the next big thing in Australian wine!
