Montepulciano
Montepulciano is a charming hilltop town located in south east Tuscany and is famous for its wine Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. This wine is made from the Prugnolo Gentile clone of Sangiovese (and not the Montepulciano grape; you’ll find more of that in Abruzzo!). Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is aged for a minimum of two years before it is released, at least 12 months in oak and 6 in bottle. This region’s young wine is the fresh and snappy Rosso di Montalcino and usually does not see any oak and can be released after just four months of ageing.
