Toro

West of Ribera del Duero is the smaller appellation of Toro which also has a continental sunny climate.  The thick skinned Tempranillo clone grown in Toro is called Tinta de Toro.  The wines are generally very ripe  full bodied, powerful and tannic.  Some white and rose wine is also made here.
