We might be known around town for selling rare finds and special wines, but did you know that we’ve got over 250 wines that are under $25? That’s a lot of amazing, value wines in one little shop.
Everyone finds that funds can be a little tight this time of year, so let’s talk about wines that offer whole lot, without breaking the bank. Many of these recommendations came from Alanna McIntyre, who we’re happy to welcome back after her maternity leave.
If you’re looking for quality on a budget, you can’t go wrong with some of our latest Spanish offerings. The 2010 Promesa Crianza, at just $18.50/bottle, is a satisfying medium-bodied red made from the tempranillo grape. The wine’s ripe fruit and warming, spicy notes make this an ideal pairing for a variety of spice infused stews, lamb sausages, or that perfectly roasted chicken with a side of seasonal root vegetables. Yum!
A perennial favourite with our staff, Doga Delle Clavule Morelino di Scansano offers the best of Tuscany for only $19.00/bottle. Medium-bodied with bright cherry and subtle earthy notes that make this a wonderful wine to accompany a hearty mushroom risotto or a simple pasta al pomodoro.
Straight out of South Africa comes the DeMorgenzon DMZ Chardonnay for $19.50/bottle. This round, satisfying white wine offers just the right amount of toasty notes and tropical fruit. It will be delicious with a warming curried squash and coconut soup.
Finally, great value is always to be found in Argentina; try the Vida Organica Chardonnay or Vida Organica Cabernet Sauvignon. At just $14.50/bottle, these full-flavoured and organically-produced wines offer a lot for the price. Enjoy the Chardonnay with a rich, cream based soup and open up that Cabernet Sauvignon with roast beef.
