Distinctly influenced by Norse culture, the Orkney Islands are unlike any other Scotch producing region in Scotland. Scotch has a rich history going far enough back to make your eyes cross, but at some point a settlement began in the Northern Islands and farming began. The landscape here is rich with fertile soil and rolling lowhills, and barley grows effortlessly. Where there is barley, there is whisky. I would love to sit amongst the archeological finds of ancient settlements with a hefty dram of Highland 12.
