Grenache
Grenache, or Garnacha, originated in Northern Spain but now grows throughout France, Australia and California as well.
Grenache is a varietal that ripens to high sugar levels and produces high alcohol wines. Although often produced as a single varietal, it is in blending that Grenache is most commonly enjoyed. This is especially obvious in the Southern Rhone where Grenache is responsible for over 80% of the blend in the Chateauneuf-du-Pape wines.
