This is a full bodied white wine from Northern Spain (where it goes by Garnacha Blanca) and is planted widely in southern France regions. It is a heat loving grape that ripens to high sugar levels and as a consequence makes full bodied and relatively high alcohol wines when fermented dry. It has pronounced aromatics of green fruits; lime, green apple, pear, just ripened mango and peach. Other aromas and flavours include sweet floral notes, honeysuckle and Indian spices. If the wines are aged in oak there is another layer of complexity with notes of baked apple with spices, brioche and lemon curd. The palate is plump an rich with lots of juicy green fruit and spicy notes.
