Summer means rosé, and what could be better than a delicious rosé with a beautiful label? I’ll tell you what and that it’s available in cans! And let me say the cans are so fresh!!
This dry, fruity and bright rose is the perfect to enjoy when the sun is shining or when you are dreaming of the next sunny day. The cans are perfect for when you are on the go or don’t want to open a whole bottle. And because everything’s better shared, be sure to grab enough for two!

When I think of drinking something pink, Domaine Montrose Rosé is the exact style that first comes to mind. Light in the glass with tons of balanced acidity, red fruit, floral notes, and absolutely refreshing! The last part is a must when talking about wine that pairs with Summer. I’ll be doing my best to make sure I have couple bottles of this in our fridge at all times as the Summer rolls on. Delicious on it’s own, you can pair this with those last minute sandwiches before you run down to the beach, salads that feature seasonal fruit and soft cheeses, and/or some ceviche with tortilla chips.

My favourite of our Lambruscos! Excellent on its own but during the summer I do love a spritz. If you haven’t tried a lambrusco spritz yet- you’re behind! Sub this in for your dry sparkling wine, with an oz (or more, i’m not judging) of Luxardo Aperitivo and toss in an orange slice. You’ve got your perfect back deck beverage.

The ultimate porch pounder is back in town! I think this is one of the best examples of what the French call a “glou glou” wine – something light and crushable that is as at home on a sunny patio as it is around a roaring campfire. From Mathieu Lapierre, the equally talented offspring of Beaujolais legend Marcel Lapierre, this is Gamay at its most unpretentious, most uncomplicated, and most unbelievably easy-drinking. Think red popsicles, strawberry kiwi juice, and cherry blasters. Serve chilled on a warm day with cool friends or a hot date.

Freshly back on our shelves, Candid Brewing out of Antigonish has returned with one of my favourite summer crushers.
Little Rippa is an Australian Pale Ale that delivers everything I want on a hot day. Bright tropical fruit, a touch of dankness, and a crisp bitterness that keeps you coming back for another sip. Whether you’re headed to the beach, the lake, or just relaxing on the patio, this is the kind of beer that’s dangerously easy to enjoy.
The beer alone would earn my recommendation, but it gets bonus points for the can art. The kangaroo looks suspiciously like my dog, Elton—and every time I crack one open, I can’t help but laugh.

One of my favourite aspects of the wine-making world is how so many vintners are on the forefront of sustainable agriculture. Fattoria la Valentina operations are guided by principles of sustainable development, with the result being high quality low intervention wines. La Valentina Pecorino is a great example of this practice, a crisp clean wine offering notes of citrus, lemon curds and white flowers. Lees aging gives the wine an additional lightly creamy texture, balanced by a brisk mineral lift. Whether at the beach or in the garden, a glass of La Valentina Pecorino can only improve your day.

Bellwoods NA Raspberry & Blackberry Sour truly tastes like summer in a can, it is bright, refreshing, and fruity. It is a perfect option for beach days, nights at the cottage, or for everyday sipping in the summer air. For those interested in dipping their toes into a Non-Alc summer this sour makes it super easy as well as tasty! This sour is made through the same fermentation processes as Bellwoods traditional beer and sours, creating a funky, luscious, peachy result.

With the hot summer weather coming into full swing, my go-to drink of choice is the Asahi Super Dry. Crisp and light with a fast finish, it’s the perfect palate cleanser to pair with any food. At 5% ABV you can rip a few of these fellas while watching a game or enjoy at home with dinner. I had a soulful experience with one of these the other day.

There’s nothing I love more during the summer than a delicious crispy beer enjoyed in the late afternoon sun, and North Brewing’s Lawrencetown Pale Ale checks all the boxes. With an ABV of 4.5%, it’s an easy, juicy, and refreshing beer that won’t leave you too woozy too early in the day. The 6-pack format makes this a perfect grab & go beer for the beach, the park, or wherever you choose to spend your summer days.

Drinking this beer is as easy as enjoying the early summer sundowners on a patio – or vice versa.
The medium body, balance of malt sweetness and hop bitterness finished perfectly with the golden color explains why this Blonde Ale has all rights to be the Flagship of the Bay of Fundy Brewing Company. Doesn’t matter if you’re having a slow Sunday at home or enjoying this as an afterwork beer at home, it will definitely brighten your mood.
Trying this beer for the first time for me felt like the summer finally arriving in Halifax and I will sure be drinking this over some World Cup Soccer Games this month
