Fast Food Pairing: McDonald’s Big Mac meal
Sometimes there is nothing more surprising or perfect than a “high brow/low brow” pairing – I certainly think that bringing together Villa Franciacorta, Italy’s answer to Champagne, and a Big Mac, the BEST menu item at McDonald’s, is a fantastic match. The Big Mac, a stunning combination of cheese, pickles, lettuce and Thousand Island-style dressing, requires a pairing that will temper the rich ingredients while still letting the crunchy veggies and zippy sauce shine. Enter the Franciacorta: 85% Chardonnay and 15% Pinot Noir, aged for 60 months on the lees, this Italian sparkling has enough acidity to cut through the juicy beef patties and buttered bun, while displaying light and crisp flavours that complement the “special sauce” and tangy pickles.
For your next McDonald’s run – the side of fries may be optional, but Franciacorta is not!!
