Marechal Foch

Marechal Foch is a grape named after a famous French general in the First World War. This variety was developed in France by an Alsatian researcher names Hans Kuhlmann, it is a cross of a Vitis Riparia-Rupestris hybrid and the Vitis Vinifera variety Goldriesling. The grape is a hardy, cold-resistant variety that is said to have many similarities to Pinot Noir.

In the vineyard, Marechal Foch has small berries and medium sized clusters that produce an intense, dark red-violet wine of good quality. In hotter years the wine may have a much lighter color.
