Auxerrois
A lowish acid white French wine grape suited to cool climates. Its origins are a bit complicated; it has been traced back to Alsace-Lorraine though many other white grapes in north-eastern France have been dubbed as “Auxerrois” such as Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay. It is said to be a natural progeny of Pinot and Gouais Blanc (an ancient vine who had many offspring). It is somtimes called Pinot Auxerrois.
