Pecorino
The Pecorino grape is a native white grape of Marche, Italy. It is widely cultivated in the Marche and Abruzzo where sheep farming was prevalent; “pecora” is the Italian word for sheep. This grape was almost forgotten as plantings of this low yielding vine decreased in the 1980s when the focus was on bulk wine production. It has recently been rediscovered and many producers are making excellent dry, crisp and well structure Pecorino. The wines have balancing acidity with a citrus lift and floral, herbal and mineral notes.
