This Cote de Provence rose is a perennial favourite and this fresh vintage does not disappoint. The wine stands out on a shelf because of its unique bottle, the “flute a corset Provencal,” a bottle shape that is specific to this appellation. Thankfully, this wine is as elegant as its package. This blend of Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon from 30-50 year old vines yields a wonderful rose. The nose is quite pronounced and concentrated, which I don’t always find in Rose. Juicy, ripe strawberry and raspberry notes with a splash of citrus. The palate is fresh, with a slight creaminess; like a bowl of fresh picked strawberries drizzled with cream. The acidity is more medium than searingly high which makes this super easy to sip on its own, though it would pair well with salty snacks, smoked salmon, chicken salad, ham sandwiches.
