Saint Patrick’s Day 🍀
The renowned Lenotti winery is located in Bardolino on the shores of Lake Garda. Not far away at all the Lenotti family has an estate owned vineyard located in Valpolicella Classico named La Grolla di Sant’Ambrogio which produces wines of exceptional quality for the price. Their Valpolicella Classico DOC has an inviting bouquet of red cherries, raspberries, and subtle floral notes. The palate is light to medium-bodied, with a velvety texture. If beers are not your thing on Saint Paddy’s Day this is refreshing red wine and should also be served slightly chilled.

Since we don’t sell Guinness (yet), I’m not too attached to what beverage I’ll be drinking on St. Patrick’s Day. So, since there are no rules, I’m going to rip a few of these awesome new hard iced teas from our friends at 2 Crows. Made with whole leaf decaf tea, and sweetened with only local honey, these iced teas are so refreshing and perfectly balanced. They come in at 5g of sugar per can less than the other hard iced teas in the market and this mixed pack has three flavours to enjoy. In this mixed 6pk you’ll find 2x Southern sweet tea, 2x Green Tea & Honey, and 2x Iced Tea & Lemonade.

St. Patrick’s Day brings out the Irish in everyone and signals that spring is just around the corner. But here in Nova Scotia, we swing between warm, spring-like days and cold ones that still feel like winter. That’s why JD Shore Shots are the perfect March drink—you can enjoy them over ice on the warmer days or add them to your coffee when the cold returns. No matter the weather, they’re always a great choice!

Saint Patrick’s Day 🍀
St. Patrick’s Day is practically a carb-loading holiday disguised as a cultural celebration, and I’m here for it! This year, my quest for the perfect Irish boxty begins. These potato pancakes are basically edible plates, and I plan to treat them as such. Think of them as the blank canvas for my culinary masterpiece (or, you know, just a vehicle for delicious toppings). I’m kicking things off with some crisp cider from Chain Yard Foundation – because hair of the dog is so last year. Depending on how crazy I go with the toppings (bacon? Gravy? Smoked salmon?), I might switch up my drink game. But cider’s a refreshing start to what promises to be a long day of “festivities” (aka eating and drinking).

I’ll be taking it easy this Saint Patrick’s Day but that doesn’t mean I won’t be able to fit in a pint to celebrate; that’s where O’Hara’s comes in. Described by some as a better alternative to Guinness, both are delicious and have their place in the Nitro Stout Landscape™️. For those who enjoy more roasted and robust flavour, O’Hara’s is a delicious choice. And for the full cascading experience, crack it open over your sink (it can get messy) and pour vigorously in a glass at 90 degrees (or directly upside), let it settle and enjoy! Happy Saint Paddy’s Day.

Saint Patrick’s Day 🍀
Nikka Whisky was founded by Masataka Taketsuru, the Father of Japanese whisky. Aspiring to create “genuine” whisky in Japan, Masataka set off alone to Scotland in 1918 to gain the knowledge needed to achieve his goal. Built in 1934, Yoichi’s location was chosen due to its similarities to Scotland’s climate, which was thought to be ideal for crafting whisky. Yoichi Malts are bold, peated and have that lovely coastal character us whisky drinkers crave. As for St. Paddy’s day plans? Zero. Nothing I love more than sitting on my couch, I’ll be sipping my whisky at home!

Saint Patrick’s Day 🍀
One of my favourite beer styles with one of my favourite labels from one of my favourite brasseries in one of my favourite cities is back in my favourite wine/beer/spirits shop. Dent de Requin showcases everything that makes a West Coast IPA so delicious – it’s resinous, dank and bitter but balanced out by tons of fruity citrus notes and a nose that jumps out of the glass. This brewery certainly has not jumped the shark, if you know what I mean. It’s easily in the top 2 shark-themed beers in the store these days.

One of my favorite beers, Witchshark Double IPA from Bellwoods.
A bold, tropical brew that never disappoints. Bursting with mango and tangerine notes, it balances juicy hops with just the right bitterness, making it surprisingly smooth for its strength. Named after a mischievous legend, it’s the perfect beer to embrace the fun and mystery of Saint Patrick’s Day.
Whether you’re toasting with friends or just enjoying a great pint, Witchshark brings a little magic to any celebration.

Local Restaurant + Valentine’s Day Pairing ❤️
Pair with Beef Tartare from Field Guide
Beef tartare is one of those dishes that I always enjoy but would never think to try to make at home, so I usually go for it if I see it on a menu. I always go for it at Field Guide, whose take on the dish changes seasonally, but always involves some element of bright aromatics and textural variety to liven up the dish. With beef tartare, I still want a red to bring some depth to the pairing, but I wouldn’t want anything too heavy. Cousin Oscar is a pinot noir and cinsault blend from the French Languedoc region. Lifted notes of cherry, strawberry and gentle florals and silky tannins pair well with the tender, savoury experience of the meal.

It’s back and it’s in its glorious 750ml format. If you’ve been reading these write-ups then you’ll know that this is easily in my top five beers. With this larger size I’m more inclined to share this beer without fear of running out. The Saison Dupont undergoes a secondary fermentation, similar to that other neat sparkling wine you might know from France or Spain. Stock up before I take home all of our inventory!

I love St Patrick’s Day! It is about celebrating a little leprechaun and pot of gold even when you aren’t Irish. Whether you’re hitting a party or just chilling with friends, Modelo Negra keeps the good times rolling.

Regardless of my plans, I think I’ll be looking for a glass of the Meinklang Burgenlandweiss. Auatria has some of the best biodynamic producers in the world, and Meinklang is no exception! This organic/biodynamic blend is light, fresh, and fruity, with a slight honeyed aroma that carries through on the palate alongside the floral and stone fruit notes.

This year, I’m spending St. Patrick’s Day in Dublin, so you know I’m not messing around when it comes to my beer choices! Thankfully, Moretti’s Original Lager will keep me refreshed with a familiar favourite, no matter where I am. Originally from Italy, this international classic delivers clean, crisp notes with a touch of floral hops- smooth, easy, and perfect for celebrating the Irish. Cheers!

I’ll be having a lowkey St Paddy’s day, with a little Sauternes to accompany. Imagine a crème brûlée but made as a wine, with balancing floral and candied citrus notes. This wine pours as liquid gold, and gives you the luck of the Irish.

Don’t listen to anyone else; Big Spruce’s Camp Spruce is THE St. Paddy’s Day Bevie.
Light, crisp, refreshing; this cheeky little lager slaps. At a moderate 4.0% this will be my be(er)st friend all night long. Subtle floral and spice notes add just enough ‘oomph’ to make this beer stand out while it still shows the wisdom of restraint to keep this a “beer” beer.

There is nothing I love more than a themed holiday! With St. Patricks right around the corner everyone needs a crisp drink to fuel the festivities and a 1 litre bottle for just $19 is the way to go. This pinot grigio isn’t only affordable but it’s absolutely delicious; crisp, dry, juicy acidity and fruity citrus.
Grab a bottle today whether you’re looking to share or enjoy alone (we won’t judge)! 😉

Saint Patrick’s Day 🍀
St. Patrick’s Day comes around every year to empower you to break out a folding chair in a public square and crack open a cold beer. Or at least that’s mostly the tradition in cities around the world where the celebrations take over and everything turns green, like fountains, or mostly small, enclosed, bodies of water. I lived in Savannah, Georgia for some time, and St Patty’s is huge there. Second biggest celebration in the US after New York, according to Google and my personal experience. This year, I will unfold my chair in my living room (we’re not in southern Georgia) and open a Burnside Happy Place. A rich, hoppy, hazy Double IPA that will hopefully transport me mentally to one of Savannah’s many squares, and bring back memories of a fun southern St. Patrick’s Day bash.
