Joining the team in 2024, Damir is an avid beer and wine enthusiast. Having previously spent a year in Portugal exploring their wines, from Douro Valley to Alentejo,  and even Porto, to get more familiar with fortified wine, Damir brings a wealth of knowledge and curiosity to our shop and we’re excited to welcome him abooard. Favourite grape or wine region? 

Nebbiolo.

What’s one thing that people would be shocked to know about you?

I’ve lived in 5 countries.

Favorite food? If you could eat one type of food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Arepa. A traditional Venezuela food, made out of corn flour. You can fill it with whatever you please. But my favorite filling would be “Reina Pepiada” a mix of shredded chicken, avocado and green peas.

I’m not here to talk about a journey from bad wine to great wine, to each their own. I’m here to talk about choice. Because I went from not really choosing what I wanted to drink, price might have been the determining factor. Now, I choose the wine I want not only thinking about the occasion, but also about what is my palate yearning, what’s new to try, or return to rediscover something from the past. The Masolino Langhe Chardonnay DOC is a wine I tasted over the holidays and have been itching to have again since. It’s melted butter in a glass, while still retaining some ripe stone fruit and bright, fresh minerality. A great choice every time!
